Chicago Sustainability, the Work of Wangari Maathai--and You!
As those of you who attended Wangari Maathai's recent talk at the University of Chicago know well, Dr. Maathai is an amazing person, whose tireless work on behalf of environmental sustainability, women's rights, and social justice have inspired and empowered millions of people around the world.
Now we invite you to join with us in taking the seeds of hope and action that Wangari Maathai has given us and growing them into new plans and programs for our own Chicago communities. We hope to create a web site or blog where Chicagoans can share their ideas and experiences on sustainability in all realms, from education to restoration, parks to politics—and of course tree planting! (Please check back here soon for more information on that site.)
Please e-mail your interests and ideas to rschultz@uchicago.edu or call us at 773-834-3929, ext. 1, and help make the dream of a more sustainable Chicago for all come true.
