Programs

Institutional Policy

Through changes in University policy, knowledge and resources on campus have become more widely available to the community.

Library Access for Public School Teachers:

CKP and library staff recruit and provide access cards and library orientations to public school teachers from South Side communities. To date, more than 25 teachers have participated.

Space Access for Community Groups:

CKP arranges for community groups to access space on campus when not in use. In the longer term, CKP will work with other units on campus to provide free or subsidized use of rental spaces.

"What Is Civic Knowledge?" Discussion Series:

CKP will organize and facilitate conversations among diverse groups of people about some of the most important issues facing Chicago's communities today. The conversations will be utopian in nature, rather than focusing on policy, to build trust among participants and to allow for an infusion of new ideas.

CKP Visiting Scholar:

CKP has created Visiting Scholar positions at the University of Chicago for scholars with special interest in helping develop our programs.
